Job Ready Practical Training Program

Become job-ready in Australia’s construction industry.

This intensive hands-on program is designed for people with construction experience who need additional practical training to meet Australian workplace expectations, prepare for a relevant Job Ready Test or practical skills assessment, and build confidence for employment.

Qualified and experienced trade trainers and assessors identify skills gaps, demonstrate industry techniques, provide individual guidance and support participants to develop the practical competency expected in Australian workplaces.

Australian Qualification Pathway

Assessment through an approved RTO.

Eligible participants may apply for assessment towards a relevant nationally recognised Australian qualification through an appropriately registered training organisation.

Recognition of Prior Learning, gap training, formal assessment and qualification issuance are separate services and attract additional fees. Applicants must satisfy evidence, eligibility, RTO policy and competency requirements.

A qualification, successful assessment, licensing outcome or employment result cannot be guaranteed.

ReadyGrad RTO Component

ReadyGrad publicly states that eligible participants may complete BSBOPS201 Work Effectively in Business Environments through ReadyGrad Pty Ltd (RTO 45724), with a Statement of Attainment issued after successful completion of applicable training and assessment requirements.

Internship Entry Requirements

Eligibility is reviewed before placement.

  • Generally 18 years of age or older
  • Studying or having completed a relevant qualification
  • Suitable English-language capability for the workplace
  • Availability for at least three business days per week where required
  • Professional conduct and compliance with program policies
  • Appropriate visa, residency status and work rights
  • Evidence of enrolment where the internship is completed for academic credit

Applicants may need to provide a resume, academic transcripts, qualification evidence, references, a portfolio and identity or visa documents.

Placement matching commonly requires several weeks and may take longer for specialised disciplines, locations or limited availability.

Visa conditions vary. Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are legally permitted to undertake the program and should obtain advice from the Department of Home Affairs or a qualified migration professional.

Internship placement does not create a guarantee of paid employment, sponsorship or a permanent role.

No. The programs improve practical skills, workplace readiness and access to experience, but employment, sponsorship, placement conversion and job offers cannot be guaranteed.

Is an Australian qualification included in the practical-training fee?+

No. The practical-training fee covers the Job Ready Practical Training Program. RPL, gap training, formal assessment, qualification issuance and related RTO services attract additional fees and remain subject to eligibility and competency evidence.

How is the Professional Internship Program structured?+

The published ReadyGrad model is a 16-week pathway: preparation and interviews first, followed by a 12-week professional internship. Placement hours and days depend on the participant’s background, needs, discipline and host-company arrangements.

Can international students participate?+

Participation is subject to visa conditions, work rights and program-specific entry requirements. Applicants should provide current visa evidence and obtain independent immigration advice where needed.

Are internships paid?+

Payment depends on the host arrangement and applicable law. Some placements may be structured as unpaid vocational placements when they form part of an authorised education or training program and satisfy legal requirements.

Can employers request specific skills?+

Yes. Employers can provide a brief describing tasks, projects, required disciplines, location, supervision and preferred availability. Candidate matching remains subject to suitability and availability.
